
CBI to probe Police Sub-Inspector recruitment scam
Bhubaneswar(22/10/2025): In a significant development, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday ordered a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the alleged irregularities and corruption in the Odisha Police Sub-Inspector recruitment examination. The examination has been under scrutiny following widespread allegations of malpractice and manipulation.The probe, initially handled by the Crime Branch (CID), revealed that the scam could have links extending to other states, including Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal.Investigators also suspect the involvement of an inter-state organized criminal network. Considering the seriousness and possible interstate ramifications of the case, the Chief Minister has decided to hand over the investigation to the CBI to ensure a transparent, impartial, and comprehensive inquiry.The move is aimed at exposing the full extent of the scam and bringing all those involved to justice through strict legal action. Meanwhile, the state government is also planning to set up a Permanent Recruitment Commission for police and other uniformed services to ensure fair, transparent, and merit-based selection in the future.
