Koraput (10/08/2025): Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday inaugurated the newly constructed Saheed Laxman Naik Medical College building in Koraput district. The 650-bed Medical College has been constructed at a cost of Rs 280 crore. The new building boasts modern healthcare infrastructure and is expected to significantly improve access to medical services in Koraput and neighbouring districts of the state. The Chief Minister announced that vacant posts of doctors and other medical staff will be filled soon.

The CM said, "The state government has plans to upgrade the Jeypore-Brahmapur-Bhubaneswar economic corridor to a six-lane highway.

The aim is to improve connectivity and stimulate economic growth." He highlighted that new medical colleges will soon be established in Dhenkanal, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur and Nabarangpur.
