Two dead, three critical in firecracker blast

Boudh (21/09/2025): At least two persons died while three others sustained critical injuries after a powerful explosion occurred at Jiakata-Chhatrapur village in Puruna Cuttack area of Boudh district on Sunday. The blast caused roof collapse of the building which was allegedly being used as an illegal firecracker godown. Firecrackers were stored and manufactured in the godown. The explosion was so intense that nearby shops and houses sustained damage.

Villagers immediately fled their homes in panic. Fire services personnel and police rushed to the spot and rescued the injured.
