
Sahid Nagar Durga Puja Samiti's torana based on concepts designed by youth members
Bhubaneswar (By Abhishek Mohanty): The Sahid Nagar Durga Puja Samiti is gearing up to celebrate the 48th year of Puja in grand manner. In the a press conference on Sunday, Samitiâs President, Hemanta Kumar Parija introduced all the attending officials and welcomed all the media persons and highlighted the steps being taken on behalf of the Samiti to facilitate a smooth darshan of Goddess Durga to the devotees. Samiti Secretary, Sachi Nandan Nayak, described the various measures being arranged for the upcoming Puja.He stated, "This year marks the 48th year of the Puja celebrations.As in every year, this year too the Samiti is arranging all rare Puja materials for the worship of the Goddess.Likewise, all kinds of facilities are being provided for the devotees, such as separate queues for men and women, and wheelchairs for differently abled and elderly devotees.A large LED screen is also being set up outside the mandap to provide live telecast of the Puja." To manage orderly darshan and control the crowd, over 100 volunteers (men and women) will be deployed by the Committee, and more than 30 private security personnelâincluding some armed guardsâwill be on 24-hour duty near the Goddess.The entire mandap and surrounding area will also be connected to CCTV surveillance. Advisor of the Samiti Manoranjan Das, while speaking about the decorative gate (torana), said it has been made entirely of eco-friendly materials.The structure measures 85 ft in height and 130 ft in length and has been built by skilled craftsmen brought in from Kolkata. Samitiâs Working President Saroj Kumar Patra, stated that such a grand torana has not been built anywhere else.It is based on the concepts designed by our youth members and brought to reality. Samiti's Executive Member and Secretary of Bhubaneswar Bhasani Samiiti Harish Prasad Rath announced that Sahid Nagar Durga Puja Samiti will participate in the Bhubaneswar Bhasani Utsav in the 11th slot and the idol immersion will feature all traditional instruments and illumination as per decision. During the event, this yearâs model of the Puja mandap was unveiled.Sahid Nagar Durga Puja Samiti Secretary Sachi Nandan Nayak entrusted the naming of this model to the public and the media present. Finally, through the media representatives, he invited all the people of Odisha to come to the Puja and requested everyone to celebrate the festival by adheriing to the governmentâs issued guidelines.
