Orientation held for 102 new Higher Secondary Principals

Bhubaneswar(23/09/2025): The Directorate of Higher Secondary Education (DHSE), Odisha, organised a one-day orientation programme for the principals of 102 newly upgraded higher secondary schools along with Additional District Education Officers (ADEOs) from 17 districts.
The event was held at the Auditorium of Krushi Bhawan in Bhubaneswar. Gracing the occasion as guests were Subhashree Nanda, Additional Secretary, Department of School & Mass Education; Mrunalkanti Dash, Chairman, Council of Higher Secondary Education; Birendra Karakara, Director, Directorate of Secondary Education; Niyati Patnaik, Director, Directorate of Higher Secondary Education; Ramesh Chandra Sethi, Additional Director, Regional Directorate; and Sasmita Mali, Joint Director, DHSE. In her welcome address, DHSE Director Patnaik highlighted the objectives of the orientation and extended greetings to all participants.
Director of Secondary Education, Karakara, shared his experiences with the principals and emphasised the need to learn from the insights of principals of previously upgraded schools.
CHSE Chairman, Dash, underlined the importance of quality teaching, while Additional Secretary Nanda stressed the significance of skill-based education, urging that students be groomed in line with the National Education Policy 2020 to make them employable and self-reliant. Joint Director Sasmita Mali conducted the programme, while Deputy Director Madhusudan Mallik gave vote of thanks. The technical sessions included discussions on e-Admission 2025–26 through the SAMS portal and fee structures for upgraded higher secondary schools.
This was followed by sessions on career counselling, webinars, scholarship matters, and deliberations on Samagra Shiksha, school administration, and management.
The final session focused on self-defence training programmes and split-up curriculum planning.
